Demands to the District Attorney and DA
The Winston-Salem DSA calls on the district attorney and the DA to take immediate action to defend abortion rights and protect the reproductive healthcare of all individuals. Our demands are as follows:
1. Ensure Accessible and Affordable Abortion Care
We urge the district attorney and the DA to actively support initiatives that remove financial barriers to abortion services. This includes advocating for comprehensive insurance coverage, Medicaid expansion, and affordable options for low-income individuals. It is crucial that access to safe and legal abortions is not dependent on one's economic circumstances.
2. Address Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPCs)
We call on the district attorney and the DA to investigate and take appropriate legal action against crisis pregnancy centers that engage in deceptive practices. These centers often masquerade as legitimate healthcare providers but instead provide misleading information and coerce individuals into making decisions against their best interests. It is imperative to protect vulnerable individuals from false advertising and manipulation by enforcing strict regulations on CPCs.
3. Protect Clinic Access and Patient Safety
The district attorney and the DA must prioritize the safety and well-being of individuals seeking abortion services.
